Sales Engineer
Agricultural Economics and Business
Many wondered why I would willingly venture several hundred miles from my small Midwest
hometown and a high school of 400 people to a large university. But, at UT, I gained academic
knowledge through classroom education, business experience with summer internships and worldly
knowledge from college experiences. Together they taught me the concepts of teamwork, conflict
resolution, problem solving, interviewing, negotiating, leadership, communication skiils,
motivation, etiquette, ethics and listenting.
I'm currently
working as a sales engineer for Fort Wayne Plastics, a mid-sized plastics customization firm in Indiana
that specializes in low-pressure injection molding of structural plastics. My main responsibility
involves generating cllient growth, which includes making sales presentations, issuing quotations,
developing solutions for existing customer problems and educating potential buyers on our processes.
Without the education I received at UT, I would consider it nearly impossible to exhibit the
characteristics needed for success in the workplace.
