DEGREES AT WORK!

Graduates of the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) have a tremendous variety of career choices. One in five jobs in Tennessee is directly related to agriculture and natural resources. More than 90 percent of the students who receive degrees in agricultural sciences and natural resources enter careers other than production agriculture. These careers focus on science and engineering, business, education, marketing, professional and graduate studies, natural resources, the environment and social services. The employment demand for college graduates with expertise in agricultural sciences and natural resources annually exceeds the supply by 4-10 percent or more. Salaries are competitive with many other professional fields.

CASNR is unique in having a director of student services who provides guidance and job placement for our students. A highly successful career fair is sponsored annually that offers top jobs to our graduates. All academic departments in CASNR assist their students in finding internships and co-op opportunities with a variety of potential employers.

This guide can assist you in several ways. First, it shows by field of study, the broad array of career choices open to you. Second, it helps you focus on areas of greatest interest to you. And, third, it provides some direction toward the particular program where you can prepare for the career of your choice.
