Major: Agricultural Economics and Business
Students majoring in AgricultUral Economics and Business study the functioning
of the agricultUral sector of the global economic system and economic principles
for decision making by business managers, consumers, policymakers and others within
that system. Students complete a curriculum designed to provide them with a broad-based
education and the specialized skills necessary for a succcessful career in the
agirbusiness industry or with a related organization or public agency. The curriculum
builds upon the University-wide general education requirements by adding a set
of directed electives from within the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural
Resources, a set of core courses from within the College of Business Administration,
and a set of required courses within the Department of Agricultural Economics.
Concentration: Agricultural Equipment Systems Management
The Agricultural Equipment Systems Management concentration is a unique
interdisciplinary program that combines courses from the Agricultural Economics
and Business program and the Biosystems Engineering Technology program. Students
develop a high degree of technical expertise with respect to agricultural equipment,
as well as the ability to apply sound business and economic principles to management
of a business.
Graduates are particularly well prepared for career opportunities in the agricultural
machinery industry as dealership managers, as well as with agribusiness firms
in operations management.
